“Smash A Gourd” Basket Weaving

Sunday, May 4 • 10:00 am-4:00 pm

Random weave is a basket weaving technique that is easy to learn. It is similar to a bird weaving material to create a beautiful and functional nest. You can use a variety of materials. In this class, we will use commercial space-dyed reeds. There’s no specific pattern, but a natural flow when weaving in this style. Most of the time there is little control over the shape, but we will be using a “defective gourd” as a mold. Making baskets is slow and relaxing, but over time, they always turn out beautiful in their wild and tangled look. To attend the workshop, you must pre-register, but visitors are welcome to stop in.
