CURIO. GALLERY & CREATIVE SUPPLY

106 W Chestnut St

About:

curio. features a carefully curated selection of drawing and writing supplies, books, open stock art papers for drawing, printmaking and painting as well as a wall of greeting cards. Rotating exhibitions within the gallery focus on local and regional artists, all of whom have a story to share through the work they create.

Owned by Nicole Duquette and Matt Allyn Chapman, their vision with curio. is to encourage creativity, build community and have meaningful conversations through art.

Quality product, unique items, a passion for creativity and support for artists make curio. a destination in downtown Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

FREE SPACE

As curio. prepares for our relocation, we wanted to provide an opportunity for anyone to be part of our final exhibition. FREE SPACE is about expression, collaboration, and the freedom that comes with an open expanse of clean, white paper…or depending on when you arrive, the spaces in between others contributions.

We invite you to select a drawing tool from the materials provided, and create something.

Maybe you have a thought that needs to be expressed, a favorite quote, poem, or piece of advice that you would like to share. Perhaps you have a signature “thing” that you draw when given the chance. Create a drawing of the first image that pops into your head, take as much, or as little time as you would like. Make a new space for yourself or connect your addition to an existing entry.

Not sure where to start? That’s alright, locate a suggestion anchor and use it as a jumping off point.

We remember the day we saw this space for the first time, it was raw. It needed a vision, much like a blank page waiting for the first marks to be made. We are so proud of what we have accomplished in our time here. The gallery wall is a special place for us, we have always strived to bring something exciting and thoughtful with each exhibition. The artists we have invited to show with us believe in their art, and we believe in them. From solo shows, collaborative exhibitions, community shows like the Pocket Art Swap & Connecting the Dots, we have a deep respect for the relationships we have fostered in these 6 years!

It’s in this spirit that we invite you to leave your mark. Make your contribution and help us make something we can marvel at, contemplate, and deeply enjoy.

The community that has grown inside these walls is incredible and we feel this is a fitting way to celebrate what this space means to us as we prepare to make the transition to our new location, the next vision of curio.
