Pilgrim Soul Exhibit | Claire Giblin
Local artist, Claire Giblin, is to be featured in The Regitz Gallery.
“Pilgrim Soul”
This exhibition will contain several new works in a numbered series titled “The Black Series”.
I am inspired by certain artists, including Soulages, Rothko, Kline, Marden and most recently Kiefer.
Placing color on top of the blackened paper as a ground has given me a strong sense of infinite possibility
during what has seemed to be a very long period of uncertainty. I am comforted by the softness of the
black ground shade, as much as I have loved the light that emanates from the ground used in most other of my works.
I have also included several older works in the exhibition that I believe offer a look at past efforts that are still alive after all the years I have worked.
I’ve based the title “Pilgrim Soul” from a poem “When you are Old”, by W. B. Yeats. It is a beautiful
tribute to age and love.

In the Main Gallery – Georganna Lenssen Arco Iris: An expression of light and color
The Spanish word “arcoíris” translates to rainbow in English. The arco iris has been an object of fascination and symbolism in cultures and mythologies throughout history. Interpreted as a connection or bridge linking different realms or elements, it symbolizes interconnectedness and represents communication, harmony, hope and transformation.
For me the arco iris symbolizes a bridge between creation and subject matter. In my work I seek to express the essence of a subject. My process is bold, intuitive and spontaneous, pushed by a strong sense of exploration and a desire to push the boundaries of expression.
Transparencies and layering allow me to build dimension, complexity and nuance in a piece, just as layers of experiences and emotions shape our own perception of the world. While my subject matter varies, each piece is intrinsically connected by a shared thought process and approach. It is important for me to create each new work freely, without worrying about how it fits with previous things I have made. Once there is a set of works, each piece created with its own identity and purpose, then the threads emerge that bind them.
Just as the arco iris expresses the refraction of light from a crystal or raindrop, my work emerges from a fusion of inspiration, thought and experience. -Georganna

On view in the gallery is work by local artist, Marianne Calenda. The landscapes she conjures feel real. They reach into our minds with long fingers like sunlight through tears in the trees, highlighting the path to deep seeded memories. Observation & gesture so finely tuned it convinces us that we know these places. Painterly actions paired with masterful drawing make artworks that reside in the brush between fields of abstraction and the forest of realism. The monotypes are glimpses of a fragile landscape designed to evoke rather than describe. The viewer is invited to fill in the details with personal remembrances of its textures, colors, and vibrations.
Monotype Demo with Marianne Calenda
Join gallery artist Marianne Calenda for a demo of the hand-printed painterly monotype process. A monotype is a unique, original work created by applying pigment to a non-absorbent surface. Marianne will demonstrate an expressive energetic approach to developing atmospheric landscapes with a gelatin plate, acrylic paints, and soft pastels. Learn gel plate basics and discover mark-making techniques that lead to exciting illusions. This event is a drop-in, some seating will be available.

This production of Cemetery Plots will be performed on Saturday, May 4, and
Sunday, May 5, with shows at 1:00 and 3:30 pm. The audience can expect to see
three plays performed at the Lancaster Cemetery, but they may have a hard time
distinguishing performance from reality as actors and extras work together to create an
immersive experience. The plays have been written specifically to take place in the
cemetery and feature local theater artists.
Each performance of the trio of plays will begin at the Lancaster Cemetery, 205 E
Lemon Street, and the audience will be guided through the whole experience from play
to play. The outdoor performances will go on rain or shine, so audiences are
encouraged to dress for the weather.
Creative Works utilizes a Pay What You Decide (PWYD) ticketing model with no fixed
ticket prices. We will never turn away a potential audience member due to financial
limitations, and you never need to risk feeling like your experience did not match what
you paid. Reserve your ticket now and pay what you think the experience was worth
after the show.
