About:
curio. Gallery & Creative Supply features a carefully curated selection of drawing and writing supplies, books, open stock art papers for drawing, printmaking and painting as well as a wall of greeting cards. Rotating exhibitions within the gallery focus on local and regional artists, all of whom have a story to share through the work they create.
Owned by Nicole Duquette and Matt Allyn Chapman, their vision with curio. is to encourage creativity, build community and have meaningful conversations through art.
Quality product, unique items, a passion for creativity and support for artists make curio. a destination in downtown Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
On view May 1st-June 27th Jeremy Waak: Hybrids
We welcome Jeremy Waak back to the walls of curio. for his second solo exhibition.
Organic forms populate the gallery, forming clusters that mimic plant growth, the sprawl of settlements and communities, and collect like islands and landmasses. Thoughtfully at play in their installation, Jeremy is an artist who is having fun with his work. He intentionally leaves the thought open to be resolved near its completion. New iterations bring deeper ideation, and the ideation provides clarity and expansion.
A selection from the Artist Statement: “I venture out into the world around me as a shape hunter. The gesture of a plant, or the structural transparency of a trellis-framed machine, will catch my attention, and then my imagination will take over and transform/invent forms for sculptures. No one point of inspiration can fuel the whole artwork, so I combine and then distill multiple sources into Hybrids.”
First Friday May 1st 5:00-8:00pm Opening Reception
