Dare Wright (1913-2001) was an accomplished 20th century photographer and author. She is best known for her 1957 children’s book The Lonely Doll®, which later grew to ten books in the series. Wright also made an extensive series of self-portraiture throughout her life, for which she designed and created her own clothing, and staged scenes while performing as various characters. This exhibition features large scale prints from The Lonely Doll®, her series of self-portraits, as well as her lesser known commercial work, offering a unique glimpse into the various facets of Dare Wright’s renowned photographic practice.
