Join us for an evening in the gallery with exhibition artist John Tallman as we discuss his process, concepts and work in his show No Expectations. Conversations and questions are welcome! Light refreshments will be available.
About the show:
An exhibition titled “NO EXPECTATIONS” sets a particular stage. One with an air of play, exploration, and spontaneity. It’s in these modes that invention and experimentation are afforded the opportunity to come to the forefront. Actions, gestures, decisions are all taken seriously, though the pressure that sometimes comes with them is tamped down. The results, evidenced in John’s pieces are exciting, thoughtful, and complete- they show their history in their making.
From John Tallman’s Artist Statement:
“My current work involves discovering a sense of place. Coming in touch with, through lived experience or some particular ephemera, a landscape or an environment. At its essence, this is a hodgepodge of sensory experiences and memory. Nostalgia plays a role. Memories play a role. The impermanence of everything plays a role. On display in the exhibition will be a collection of prints. Sensations become flesh.”
