Conversations and questions are welcome! Light refreshments will be available. \nAbout the show:\nAn exhibition titled “NO EXPECTATIONS” sets a particular stage. One with an air of play\, exploration\, and spontaneity. It’s in these modes that invention and experimentation are afforded the opportunity to come to the forefront. Actions\, gestures\, decisions are all taken seriously\, though the pressure that sometimes comes with them is tamped down. The results\, evidenced in John’s pieces are exciting\, thoughtful\, and complete- they show their history in their making. \nFrom John Tallman’s Artist Statement:\n“My current work involves discovering a sense of place. Coming in touch with\, through lived experience or some particular ephemera\, a landscape or an environment. At its essence\, this is a hodgepodge of sensory experiences and memory. Nostalgia plays a role. Memories play a role. The impermanence of everything plays a role. On display in the exhibition will be a collection of prints. Sensations become flesh.”

Keeping an active sketchbook practice can be difficult at times\, our days fill up and we get tired. though when you recognize how anything can be kept there\, it becomes less of a responsibility\, and more like a friend you enjoy spending time with. \nThis workshop will be led by curio. Co-Owner & artist Matt Allyn Chapman as he guides participants in exercises that push the pre-conceived ideas of what a sketchbook looks like. Multi-disciplinary approaches to capturing and recording observations\, personal reflections\, the lighting strikes of inspirations\, and the hard to pin down little things that float into our minds will be explored. \nTruly a workshop for anyone. Alcohol inks\ncan be used to make stunning paintings on a variety of non-porous surfaces. These concentrated inks\nare alcohol-based and waterproof. They are semi-transparent\, which means they can be layered and\ncombined to create gorgeous effects. Ann will show you several techniques on a variety of different\nsubstrates\, and give you ample time to create your own beautiful pieces.
