SUMMARY:Pointed Pen Calligraphy for Beginners with Renée Reese
DESCRIPTION:Join local artist Renée Reese to learn how to create beautiful modern calligraphy using a nib and ink. This two session class is an introduction to modern calligraphy\, a style that allows for creativity\, flexibility and enjoyment. A pointed nib and ink are the perfect combination for creating thick and thin lines so distinctive to this art form. Participants will progress from the basic strokes\, to upper- and lower-case letters\, to joining letters and forming words. SUMMARY:Reductive Drawing: Graphite & Charcoal\, with Matt Allyn Chapman
DESCRIPTION:Just as essential as the pencil\, the eraser has long been used as a tool not just to undo a mistake\, but to create beautiful pieces of art. In this two session workshop participants will learn the best practices for using various erasers to achieve form\, value\, and volume in their drawings in addition to charcoal and graphite. We will also explore the application of a “ground” to a drawing surface\, making an excellent starting point for reductive drawing. Skills gained in these sessions will surely become trusted and often used in your creative practice. \nAll necessary materials will be provided. \nSpace is limited\, pre-registration is required.
